Marion Ferguson, 87, of Maxwell, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Marion was born August 3, 1924, in Van Wert, Iowa to Olin and Ella Lenore (Price) Lovell. She married Donald Ferguson on September 5, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri. Marion graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines and worked for the Des Moines Register and the Story County Sheriff's office as a dispatcher. She was a member of the Maxwell Christian Church and was always willing to volunteer in any worthwhile church or community activity. Marion enjoyed reading, playing games, watching game shows and camping and fishing with her husband Don. Marion loved her family dearly and enjoyed all the time she got to spend with them.

Marion is survived by her daughters, Kathryn and Douglas Cross of Ogden, Donnie and Kenny Partington of Elkhart and Lori and Harold Backous of Stratford; her sister, Kathryn and Larry French of Maxwell; several half-sisters and brothers; her grandchildren, Brad Smith, Amy Hampton, Lisa Lauder, Clinton Sparks and Jenny Backous-Vermillion; her great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Nora, Skyler, Johnny and Raeanne. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; her brother, Leland; and a grandson, Ty Smith.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Maxwell Christian Church in Maxwell with Pastor Tom Lee officiating. Interment will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Ferguson Memorial Fund.
