THOS. L. OLSON

T. L. Olson, who died at his home in Story City Nov. 23, was born near Gilbert July 2, 1871. His parents, Lars and Ingebor Olson (Donhowe) were among the earliest settlers southwest of Story City.

In 1894 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Askelson, daughter of Sampson and Sell Askelson, who also were pioneers of this neighborhood.

The most of his active years he was in the saddlery business. He also engaged in farming for some time. The last 16 years were spent mostly in the sickroom, suffering from creeping paralysis.

Mr. Olson was honest and dependable in all his dealings with his fellowmen, a kind husband and father, and a faithful member of the church. He was also a very patient sufferer during the many years of illness. He bore his misfortune as a Christian, thankful to God and grateful for any kindness shown him by his fellowmen. From year to year he was getting more and more feeble, and the last six years he was entirely helpless. But he never complained. His greatest worry seemed to be that his helplessness caused worry and much work to his beloved wife, who so faithfully bore his burdens with him and did everything she could to lessen his suffering by giving him the best of care, and making his surroundings pleasant and comfortable at all times.

Altho his body was becoming weaker day by day, his mind was clear to the last, and he longed for the hour of release from this world to join the host arrayed in white before the throne of God.

He is survived by his wife and son, Leo of Waterloo, and one grandson. One son, Sanford, preceded him in death 7 years ago at the age of 28.

Funeral services were conducted in the home and at the Immanuel church. Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiating. He spoke on the words from the Book of Job: "I know that my Redeemer liveth." Mrs. Gladys Torjussen sang "Behold the Host Arrayed in White." The floral offerings were beautiful, and gifts to missions in his memory amounted to $14.75.

Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. Pall bearers were L. O. Jacobson, Ole A. Jacobson, George Jacobson, Gerhard Olson, Martin Olson and Julius Olson.
