SILAS NELSON DIED AT WINNEBAGO, MINN.
Silas Gaylord Nelson, former Story City man who lived in Rosendale community, died on Sunday, June 2, at his home in Winnebago, Minn., after suffering many months with cancer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday of last week at the Lutheran church in Winnebago, Rev. H. F. Bohlman officiating. The pall bearers were Otto Larson, Keith Martin, Homer Merkel, Earl Johnson, Joe Johnson and Walter Heinrich.
Mr. Nelson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Nelson and was born Jan. 13, 1897 at Whitewillow, Ill. When he was about a year old his parents moved to Iowa, where he grew to manhood. About ten years ago he moved to Minnesota and in 1926 was united in marriage to Miss Helen Gulden of Welcome, Minn. To this union two children were born, James, now 9 years old, and Robert, 6.
Besides his wife and two sons there are left of nearer relatives to mourn his death, his step-mother, Mrs. Anna Nelson of Story City; four brothers--Nels of Webster City, Joseph, Otto and Albert of Winnebago, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. William Johnson of Winnebago; and an uncle, N. H. Nelson of Albion. His father and mother and a sister and brother preceded him in death.
