Clarence Eldon Sargent, 84, of Indianola died of pneumonia Wednesday at Westview Care Center there. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, with burial at Mount Zion Cemetery near Maxwell.

Mr. Sargent was born near Maxwell and had lived in Minnesota for 45 years before moving to Indianola in 2000. He was a retired farmer and electrician. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Bill of Indianola; a daughter, Pat Peavey of Nevada; two brothers, Merle and Morris and a sister, Eva Denton, all of Maxwell; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
