C. M. ABRAHAMSON CAME AS A YOUNG MAN FROM DENMARK

The funeral of C. M. Abrahamson was held in the Grace Evangelical church Friday afternoon, Jan. 4, with a large concourse of relatives and friends to pay their last respects to the well beloved departed. Rev. Fuller officiated, the singing was by Ruth and Alice Fuller, with Margaret Fuller at the piano. Two songs sung were "Goin Down the Valley," and "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break."

The pall bearers were: John H. Johnson, John Jorgenson, Williams Merkel, N. P. Paulson, John L. Anderson and Hans S. Nelson.

In his sermon Rev. Fuller paid a personal tribute to the departed, following the reading of the obituary.

Obituary

Christian Miller Abrahamson was born at Kongstad, Denmark, Dec. 1, 1862. At the usual age he was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church. At 20 years of age he came to America and settled at Mackey. Five years later he was naturalized as an American citizen in the district court at Boone. He engaged in work as a blacksmith, buying out his brother's shop at Mackey.

He was married in Jewell May 10, 1889, to Miss Hannah Anderson. To this union were born three children, on of whom, Hans, preceded his father in death, dying in France during the World war.

The Abrahamson family moved about a great deal for a number of years, living for wither short or longer periods in the following places: Mackey, Stanhope, Jewell, Story City (two periods0 on a farm 3 years, in Texas one period of five years, another of one year. Barring this one year in Texas they have resided in Story City since 1915.

It was during the ministry of Rev. L. L. Orth that he, with his wife, united with the Grace Evangelical church on confession of faith in 1926. He was a member of this church at the time of his death, which occurred at his home in Story City on Jan. 1, 1935, due to heart failure, at the age of 72 years and 1 month.

He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Orin Dickinson, one son, Andrew, and six grandchildren. He will be missed from the Sunday school and church, of which he was regular attendant, and from the streets of Story City where he was a familiar figure, as well as from the home and family circles, where he was beloved.

Among the relatives and friends from a distance at the funeral were the following: Mrs. Joseph Abrahamson, Mr. and Mrs. Minus Abrahamson, Mr. Chris Abrahamson and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Christoffers, all of Palmer; Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Abrahmson and sons Chris and Irvin of Mapleton, Minn.; Mr. Albert Abrahamson of Manson; Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson and son Fred of Williams; Mr. Andrew Anderson of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Jensen and son Virgil and Mr. and Mrs. Jens Peterson of Kimballtown; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dinsmore and Charlene and Dorothy of Nora Springs; Mr. and Mrs. K. A. Dickinson and Mrs. Frank Dickinson of Ames; Mr. R. H. Dickinson of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Dickinson of Gilbert; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Sawyer and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Benson of Jewell; Frank Nelson and Harold Anenson of Woodward.
