OBITUARY

Mrs. Caroline Holm

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Holm, widow of the late John Holm, who died at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Knutson, near Story City March 25, were held Wednesday at the Salem church in Roland, and interment was in the cemetery at that place.

Mrs. Caroline Holm was born August 26, 1855, in LaSalle county, Ill., and died March 25, 1934, at the age of 78 years and 7 months. She was the oldest child of Erick and Bertha Jacobson, came to the Jacobson homestead near Roland in a covered wagon at the age of one year. She was baptized by Rev. P. A. Rasmusson and confirmed into the Christian faith by Rev. N. Amlund at Story City.

March 14, 1879, she was united in marriage to John Holm, and moved to their home northeast of Roland, where they lived 53 years. These last two years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Knutson, on the old Jacobson homestead.

To this union nine children were born, three sons and six daughter. Those surviving are Lewis at Marshalltown, Sarah Knutson at Story City, Bertha Anderson at Radcliffe, Emily Lenning and Amy Gjerde at McCallsburg, Eddie at Zearing and Jennie Johnson at Roland. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Emily Carr at Story City, three brothers John Jacobson at Adrian, N.D., Bartle Jacobson at Story City, and Martin Jacobson at Winthrop, Minn. Those having preceded her in death are her husband, one son Eddie, and one daughter Hannah.

Mrs. Holm had been failing these last years but was still up and around until the last week, then a severe heart attack set in, followed with other complications.

She was a kind and loving mother and sister, and will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Salm Lutheran church, Revs. Bakke and Holen officiating. Duets were sung by Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd, and solos rendered by Thwo. Quam. The pall bearers were four grandchildren, Joel and Harvey Anderson, Jesse and Sylvester Holm, and two nephews, Ernest Jacobson and Leonard Nelson. Burial was at the Roland cemetery.
