He grew to young manhood in his native land and was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church Sept. 20, 1876. He immigrated to America at the age of twenty and settled near Story City.

He was married to Annie Johnson [aka Jensen] Jan. 4, 1884, and they spent nearly the whole of their 50 years of wedded life in this vicinity, 30 years on the present farm. To this union 12 children were born, 6 boys and 6 girls, all of whom, with the mother, survive him. The children are: Sam of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. Will Doolittle, Nels, Andrew, Mrs. Hans Hendricksen, Alvin, Albert, Victor, Mrs. Art McCreight and Mrs. Stanley Lykins, all of Story City; Mrs. Alfred Klann of Sherburn, Minn. and Mrs. Ludvig Oppedal of Stanhope. There are also 25 grandchildren, as well as a large number of other relatives in this community. He was a kind father and husband, and his passing will be regretted in a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 in Grace church, Rev. Fuller officiating.
