MRS. THOS. JOHNSON CAME HERE IN 1877

Mrs. Thomas Johnson was born in Hardanger, Norway, Dec. 24, 1851, and died at her home in Story City the 16th of August, 1933, bein 82 years, 7 months and 23 days old at the time of her death.

Her maiden name was Larsine Svaasand, a daughter of Kari and Willeik Svaasand. She spent her childhood in Norway and immigrated to America in 1875, coming to Illinois where she had a sister.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Johnson Nov. 26, 1876, and after spending the first year of their married life in Illinois they came to Iowa, where they settled on the prairie in Hamilton county. This was their home for eleven years. Leaving the farm in 1888 they moved to Story City, where their remaining days were spent.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Dr. J. T. Johnson, and three infant daughters. She was a member of St. Petri church, from which funeral services were held, in charge of Rev. J. N. Andersen, her former pastor.

Her departure is mourned by three children, Mrs. A. S. Christensen of Clemons, Dr. W. C. Johnson of Fellows, Calif., and Dr. L. C. Johnson of Salinas, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Anna Jondal of Hayfield, Minn.; also five grand children Arnold Christensen of Knoxville, Mrs. B. Arney of Marshalltown, Mrs. Lyle Perry and Hubert Christensen of Clemons, Harold Christensen of Stratford; and two great grand children, Geneva and Avery Perry of Clemons.
