PIONEER PASSED AWAY
Mrs. Fred Wirth passed peacefully away Thursday evening at 5 o'clock, July 20, 1933, after an illness of several months' duration. Death was due to complications. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at nine o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul's church. Father D. A. Gorman read the Requiem High Mass and delivered an eloquent sermon. The casket bearers were three nephews Joseph, Cleo and Alouise Wirth, and three cousins, M. J., Victor and Ed Baldus. Interment was made in SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery nearby. She was 72 years, 1 month and 6 days old.
Louise Baldus was born June 14, 1861, in Story City. Her parents were Florence and Louise Baldus. Her father was the first blacksmith in Story City. Her mother died when she was an infant, and she was then taken by her aunt, Mrs. John Dickoph, where she resided and grew to young womanhood.
She was united in marriage to Fred Wirth June 24, 1879. To this union 11 children were born. One daughter, Odella preceded her in death. The children, all of whom were present at the funeral are: Mrs. Will Monson of Springfield, Minn., Mrs. George Hildman, Mrs. Ed. Hildman and Mrs. Will Foertsch, all of Wesley, Mrs. Frank Ricke, Joe and John Wirth, of Boone county, Leo and Lawrence of Lafayette township, and Pete at home. Besides the children she is survived by her aged husband, 54 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one brother, T. F. Baldus of Jewell, and a large number of other relatives. One brother, L. C. Baldus, and six grandchildren also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wirth led a good Christian life and was respected by all who knew her. When sickness was in a home in the community Mrs. Wirth always came and lent a helping hand, and her timely advice was always appreciated.
She always had the loving care of her husband and children who, with a large circle of relatives and friends, are left to mourn her loss. May her soul rest in peace.

Uthe of Jewell, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baldus and Neoma of Austin, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ricke and Ramon of Wesley, Edw. Charlson of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Regis Fitzgerald of Stanhope.
