JEREMIAH OLSON DIED AT ROLAND LAST FRIDAY EVENING
Deceased Was One of the Oldest of Pioneer Residents of Roland Community
Jeremiah Olson, 91, oldest resident and pioneer of the Roland community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Julia Sigmund, 3 1/2 miles southeast of Roland, Friday night. He had been ill about three months. He had suffered several slight strokes of paralysis.
Mr. Olson, a native of Norway, had resided in the Roland community for more than 60 years. He was a charter member of the Salem Lutheran church and was generous to church and charity. He served at various times as an officer in the community and church.
He is survived by four children, Osmund of Wallingford, Josiah of Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Anna Paulsrud of Randall and Mrs. Minerva Anderson of Ames. Mrs. Olson died 20 years ago. The old Olson homestead was a half mile from the home of the daughter where he died.
Funeral services were conducted from the Salem Lutheran church Monday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Olaf Holen, pastor in charge. He was assisted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud of Randall and several others.
