Obituary of Mrs. Thompson
Mrs. Malinda Thompson was born January 24, 1847 at Kleppe, Hjelmeland, Norway, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. T. S. Larson of Danvers, Minn., June 9th, 1931, being over 84 years old at the time of her death.
Mrs. Malinda Thompson came from Norway to America in 1859 and settled near Lisbon, Ill. She was united in marriage to Andrew Thompson Nov. 2, 1868. They were blessed with 12 children: five daughters and seven sons, of whom two sons preceded her in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Sarah Larson of Danvers, Minn.; Charles of Montevideo, Minn.; Mrs. Rachel Hanson of Halfa, Peter of Montevideo, Minn.; Mrs. Tillie Carlon of Des Moines; Andrew of Danvers, Minn.; Theodore of Roland; Mrs. Julia McBrayer of Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Emily Brand of Fort Dodge and Marshall of Story City. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She and her family moved to Shelby county, Iowa, in 1886, where they resided for 16 years. Then they lived near Swea City for one year, three years in Jewell and 17 years in Story City.
Her husband passed away in 1917. For two years she stayed for a short time with each of her children. Since then she has made her home with her oldest daughter, Mrs. Sarah Larson of Danvers, Minn.
The funeral services were held in Westbank church, Danvers, Thursday, June 10, Rev. L. O. Onerheim officiating. Then the body was taken to Story City, where services were held in the Bethel church Saturday, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiating. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery beside her husband.
