MRS. NASH LIVED FAR BEYOND ALLOTTED YEARS

Rosaltha Chandler was born on a farm near Foxcroft, Maine, August 15, 1844, and died at Story City February 15, 1931, at the age of 86 years, 6 months.

At the age of 11 she moved to Cambridge, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage. She was united in marriage December 27, 1865, to Morris D. Nash. The newly married couple settled on a farm near Story City. To this union were born five children, two of whom preceded their mother in death. They were Sidney and Frank. Mr. Nash also preceded his wife in death by some 18 years. Twenty-seven years ago the Nash family moved into Story City where Mrs. Nash spent the rest of her days, except for two years spent in Montana.

Mrs. Nash was converted in early youth and united with the Methodist church at Pleasant Grove. During the ministry of Rev. L. L. Orth she transferred her membership to the Grace Evangelical church of Story City, of which church she remained a faithful member until her death.

The last 20 years of her life were spent in darkness as far as the natural world was concerned, but in spite of this handicap of blindness she came whenever health permitted to the church services and enjoyed them very much. She lived an earnest Christian life and died the death of a Christian. Death came to her according to her wish, while she slept.

She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Sarah Miller of Nevada; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Bickelhaupt of Hollandale, Minn.; two sons Abner of Story City, and William of Nevada; nine grand children and five great grand children. One of her grandchildren, Clifford Cate, was the first world war soldier brought back for burial.

There's none can fill your place;
But your memory will be cherished
Though we cannot see your face.

The funeral was held in the Grace church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Fuller officiating. Singing was by a ladies quartet consisting of Mrs. Stanton James, Mrs. S. S. Patterson, Mrs. P. A. Olson and Mrs. Iver Egenes.

The pall bearers were: Andrew Bickelhaupt, J. C. Johnson, Floyd Ballard, Anson Ballard, Andrew Knutson and Charles Wier.
