NELS H. NELSON WAS NATIVE IOWAN

Nels H. Nelson was born May 6, 1871, near Randall, and died at his home in Scott township, June 11, 1930, after several months illness, at the age of 59 years, one month and five days.

His parents were Knut and Ilie Nelson, who moved to Iowa in 1865 from Grundy county, Ill. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the North St. Petri church.

He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, Mrs. Helen Charlson Nelson, whom he married April 7, 1914, two sons, Kenneth and Charles, and one brother, R. J. Nelson of Randall and two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Larson of Tacoma, Wash., and Dr. Mary M. Hotchkiss of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters: Mrs. T. P. Cassem, Miss Betsy Nelson, Mrs. M. L. Romsdahl, Mrs. Jake Weltha, Mrs. E. J. Risting and Mrs. Carl Sparboe.

The funeral was held Sunday, June 15, at the North St. Petri church, with Rev. M. O. Sumstad in charge. Burial was made in the Story City cemetery.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral included Mrs. Oscar Larson of Tacoma, Wash.; T. P. Cassem of Tracy, Minn.; Carl Joseph and Alfred Romsdahl of St. James, Minn.; Mrs. Bert Charlson of Thor; Mr. and Mrs. Al Cassem and children and Mrs. Basil Hill of Minneapolis; Miss Mabel Weltha of Des Moines; Peter Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Lande, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Ihle, Elizabeth and Everett of Slater; Eli and Belle Johnson, Mrs. G. Richardson and daughter Belle, Mrs. Dahl and Mrs. Randall Thompson of Huxley; Mr. and Mrs. George T. Johnson, Kermit, Leonard, Ernest, Mildred and Georgia of Belmond; Mrs. O. K. Twedt and Clarence, John, Belle and Elva of Hubbard.
