OBITUARY
Mrs. Thomas Anderson
Mrs. Thomas Anderson (nee Dora Marie Merkel) was born July15, 1879, on a farm 1 1/2 miles west of Story City. Here the happy days of her childhood and youth were spent. She attended the common country school and in her early twenties took a short course in the Art Academy of Des Moines under Prof. Cummings, in which she took much delight.
On September 30, 1910, she was united in marriage to Thomas Anderson of Kelvington, Sask., Canada. The couple lived on their farm in a comfortable home, two miles west of Kelvington.
To this union was born one child, a little girl, now five years of age. She was a fond mother, wife, sister and aunt, and loved her home duties best of all. In spite of her ill health she was always busy giving her services for beyond her strength in behalf of those she loved.
Ever fond and cherished shall be the recollection which has been stamped upon the memory of those who truly knew her. She had for years been suffering more or less from heart trouble, which was the final cause of her death. She passed away at their own home after week's illness on Jan. 31, 1921, at the age of 41 years, 6 months and 16 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, a little daughter, Edna Victoria, one brother, three sisters and four nieces: Wm. Merkel, Julia Merkel and Mrs. J. H. Johnson of Story City; Mrs. S. D. Elwell and Alma, Julia, Amy and Edith Elwell of Kelvington, Sask., Canada.
Funeral services were held at their home conducted by Rev. Waterson of Kelvington. She was laid to rest on the sunny side of their own farm where loving hands will keep it in fresh memory.
