OBITUARY
Harrison R. White
Harrison R. White, son of Jas. T. and Nancy E. White, was born near Collins, Iowa, July 17, 1892, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines March 14, 1920, age 27 years, 8 months and 25 days. He was married to Inger Severeid of Story City, June 14, 1916. He leaves to mourn his departure, a loving wife, father and mother, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Edith King of Collins, Mrs. Hazel Cammack of Baxter and Burdette and Wm. of Des Moines besides many other relatives and friends who were present at the funeral.
Harry and Inger lived very happily together until on September 18, 1917, Harry was called to the front to serve his country and on April 8, 1918, he sailed for France arriving at Brest, April 22nd. He returned home July 16, 1919, being in service nearly 23 months.
He was converted and joined the United Brethren Castle memorial church at Des Moines, Ia., the winter of 1916 and lived a faithful Christian life, as the letters he wrote home while in France showed his devotion to his Master. Harry was of a lovable sunny disposition always making home and all around him pleasant. He made many friends in his walk of life. For to have him as a friend was a true and lasting friend. He never complained of his suffering as when in the last few days of his terrible suffering we would ask how he was feeling he would answer just fine. He was always ready to help those around him and never gave a thot about himself. Harry's interest reached to the Kingdom of God and now that God has taken him we look forward with hope to that enduring kingdom where there shall be no more tears.
The funeral services were conducted at Iowa Center Evangelical Church by Rev. Cronk of Des Moines. Text Romans 8:18. Music was furnished by quartet from Collins. The body was laid to rest in the old burying ground at Iowa Center Woodland Cemetery.
