OBITUARY
Rasmus John Sunnes was born in Lisbon, Kendall county, Ill., Aug. 1st, 1865, and died at his home west of Story City, after a lingering illness. He was suddenly taken worse on October 4, and peacefully passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 1919, at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 4 days.
His parents were Sjur and Bertha Sunnes. His mother's maiden name was Chally. in 1871 he moved with his parents to Kankakee Co., and resided there six years, after which they moved to Ford County.
In the year 1895 on March 27, he was united in marriage to Malinda Hovland. They resided near Roberts, Ill., until the year 1907, when they moved near Story City, which place he has made his home until his death.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three children namely Bertha; now Mrs. Eddie Wierson, of near Dennison, Minn.; Sherman, who resides a few miles from home, and Elvin who stays at home.
He also leaves three brothers and two sisters, namely, Mrs. Eric Grunsted, Slater; Mrs. Ole Olson, Routoul, Ill.; Nels Sunnes, Chicago, Ill.; John Sunnes, Gilby, S. D., and Alfred Sunnes of Story City, Iowa, and all were present at the funeral except Mrs. Ole Oleson and Nels Sunnes.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1 o'clock at the house and 2 o'clock at the Bethel church at Story City, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Story City cemetery.
