OBITUARY

Mrs. L. C. Sheldahl

Mrs. L. C. Scheldahl, nee Alvina Tjernagel, was born in Story City, March 7, 1890. In her infancy the family moved to Decorah and lived for 5 years. She graduated from the Story City schools in 1907. She taught school for several years at McCallsburg, Zearing, Cambridge, Kelley and Huxley.

She was married at Story City, June 11, 1915, to L. C. Sheldahl of this place. Four generations of the Tjernagels have been married the same date, the 11th of June. She died may 22, 1919,at noon, giving birth to a baby boy who was dead at birth. Besides her husband, Mr. L. C. Sheldahl, she leaves a son Eugene, 3 years old, her father, L. J. Tjernagel of Stanhope, two sisters, Mrs. Paul Dornack of Rochester, Minn., and Miss Lucile Tjernagel of Story City. Mrs. Sheldahl and the baby boy are resting in the same casket and were laid in the Palestine cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and neighbors. The church holding only about a third of the people who assembled to pay their last respects to the beloved deceased, and the floral tributes were extraordinarily beautiful.

The married life of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldahl had been an exceptional happy one and there is great sympathy for the sorrowing husband in his great bereavement.
