William A. Spring
William Andrew Spring was born in Lafayette township, 3 1/2 miles south of Story City, Dec. 6, 1880, where he grew up to manhood. In 1898 he moved with his parents to Gilbert, and made this his home for 10 years. From here in 1909 they moved to Scranton, Iowa.
At this place the father, Andrew J. Spring, who was sick for a whole year, and who was cared for by mother and his son, William, died five years ago, of old age.
March, 1921, failing in health, he was advised by his physician to change climate and he went to Manitou Springs, Colo. For a while he seemed to be improving, but two months ago took a turn for the worse and rapidly failed.
Early in life he was converted to God, and baptized by Rev. Henderson, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Gilbert. He always lived an upright, exemplary Christian life.
The end was sudden and peaceful. He passed away at Montcalm sanitarium, Manitou Springs, Colo., Feb. 12, 1922, at the age of 42 years, 2 months and 7 days. His mother and Christian nurse were with him at the last.
He leaves to mourn their loss the aged mother; one brother Amos J. Spring of Udell, Iowa, and family.
