Obituary.

Jens Larson [sic] was born in Leland, Denmark, June 29, 1847 and died at his home in Story City, April 10, 1905. He was married to Marie Larson [nee Jensen] Sept. 26, 1870 and came to this country in the year 1882, locating at McCallsburg where for twelve years the family made their home. In 1894 they came to Story City where Mr. Larson [sic] and sons conducted a blacksmith shop until a few months ago when he was compelled to retire from the business on account of ill health. He had been affected with stomach trouble for some time and about a month ago went to Rochester, Minn. for treatment. It was found that he had a cancer of the stomach and an operation was performed which afforded only temporary relief. Mr. Larson [sic] was a blacksmith born and bred his father, and grandfather, having engaged in the business before him. He was an honored and respected citizen, a kind neighbor and a helpful friend, a loving husband and father, and his loss in the home and community will be most keenly felt. The mother, eleven children, six boys and five girls, are left to mourn his departure. The funeral was held at the St. Petri church Wednesday at two o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Vangsnes. The remains were laid to rest in the Story City cemetery.
