TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Monday, October 24, 2005.
Margaret Accola, 94, formerly of Huxley, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be held this morning, Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Slater with Pastor Emily Allen officiating. Burial will be at Slater Municipal Cemetery.
Margaret was born to Walter F. and Lucretia (Shearer) Holmes on July 13, 1911, in Colo. She was raised in Collins and attended Collins Public School. She married Edgar Accola in 1929, and they farmed in the Alleman area before moving to Slater in 1937. They moved from Slater to Huxley in 1976.
Margaret was a homemaker for many years before being employed at Bourns in Ames until she retired in 1976. After retirement, she enjoyed quilting, tatting, crocheting, knitting and her many friends and family.
Immediate survivors include three daughters, Sharon (John) Zagar, of Huxley, Carmen Herron (David) Lovell, of Ankeny, and Rowena (Nels) Nord, of Huxley; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
