MARTHA STENA JACOBS.
Reports reached here last week that Miss Martha Stena Jacobs, the only daughter of Mrs. N. B. Jacobs of Chicago, had died there on Thursday, Jan. 2, 1908. It appears that she has been ailing for a year past, and failed rapidly during the month previous to her death.
Her uncle, Mr. Chris Nelson, for many years prominent in the business life of Story City but now of Chicago, writes us as follows:
"Martha Stena Jacobs was born in Story City the 2nd day of April 1887, and died Jan. 2, 1908. Martha had many friends who showed their love and sympathy. Her Sunday-school class arranged a very nice program at the funeral services. The floral gifts were many and beautiful.
"We all miss her very much; it is very hard for the mother and brother, but we must say 'the Lord's will be done.' It is very comforting to know that she has gone home to be with Jesus. The last day she lived she got her voice and sang "Jesus Loves Me This I Know" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and prayed for Edwin. She left a grand testimony of Jesus love and her her mother."
The Jacobs are well known here, though they have been absent upwards of 18 years, and Mrs. Jacobs has the heartfelt sympathy of all her old friends in the great affliction.
