ANOTHER PIONEER LAID TO REST

JOHN F. JOHNSON DIED FRIDAY AND WAS BURIED ON MONDAY

John F. Johnson (Flettre) died at his home south of town last Friday, at the advanced age of 81 years and 9 months. He had been sick about ten days, constipation of the bowels and bladder being the cause of death.

The funeral was held in the St. Petri church Monday afternoon. A large concourse of neighbors and old time friends gathered to pay their last respects to the departed pioneer.

OBITUARY

John F. Johnson was born in Norway in 1830. He immigrated to America in 1866 and located on a farm south of Story City, where he lived until his death, with the exception of three years spent in Todd county, Minn.

The widow and five children survive to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and kind father. The latter are John, Nels, Knut, Mrs. Betsy Folger of Marshalltown and Mrs. Julia Askelson, all of whom, besides 8 grandchildren and 4 nephews, were present at the funeral.

The deceased was one of those hard working, God fearing and wholehearted men who have accomplished so much for the building up of this community and his departure for the better land is but another reminder of how fast the ranks of the old-timers are thinning out.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The gravestone of the deceased is engraved with the surname "Johnson Flettre" in the Fairview Cemetery, Story City, Iowa.
