JOHN K. JOHNSON DIED THURSDAY

LONG ILLNESS ENDS AFTER SUPPOSEDLY SUCCESSFUL OPERATION

John K. Johnson died at his home three miles east of Story City late last Thursday night.

He had been confined to his bed since April and had suffered a great deal, but he was not a man who would complain. A week ago Friday he was operated on for an abscess on the lungs and the operation appeared to be very successful and he was getting along fine and hail all kinds of hopes for his recovery. Thursday a sudden change took place and gradually grew worse, but the deceased was prepared to meet the death angel, and he bid them all goodbye.

He was born near this city in September 1860, leaving him 52 years of age. He has spent most of his life in this community. He is the son of Mrs. Bertha Twedt, who also lives east of this city, and who is very feeble, having been unable to go to see her son since he was taken sick. She is now 85 years of age. The deceased leaves besides his mother, a wife, four daughter and three sons, one daughter having preceded him to the other world. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. R. S. Dickinson of Gilbert, and Miss Anna Twedt, staying at home with her mother, and three brothers, James, living near Randall, Jens living neighbor to his broth, and Andrew living in North Dakota.

The funeral services were held in Bergen's church, Roland, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Solum of this place preaching the sermon in the absence of Rev. Smedal, who is away on his vacation.
