OBITUARY OF MRS. RISDAL

Passed Away at Story City Last Saturday

Mrs. Christian Risdal died at her home in Story City Saturday, and funeral services were held from Immanuel church at Story City Tuesday afternoon, Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiating. Interment was made in the Roland Cemetery.

Hannah Risdal was born in Blikshavn, Skudenes, Norway, October 24, 1850. She emigrated to America in 1875, coming to Norway, Iowa. In 1878 she was married to Christian Risdal and the settled on a farm five miles northeast of Norway, where they made their home until 1917, when they retired from the farm and moved to Story City. They lived there until she was called by death at 6:45 Saturday evening. All the children were at her bedside at the time of her death.

Eight children were born to this union, one of which died in infancy. Those who are left to mourn her death with their father, Christian Risdal, are Daniel at Newhall, Mrs. Lewis Ellingson, Jacob, Hannes and Christ Risdal at Roland, Cornelius at Newhall, and Mrs. Lias Johnson at Newhall. She also leaves 39 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Besides a large number of relatives and friends from Roland, McCallsburg and Story City, in attendance at the funeral, there were many from a distance, including Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Risdal, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Olson, Josephine Risdal, Roy Thompson, and Merrill Johnson from Badger; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Dyrland, Mrs. Bertha Peterson, Mrs. Belle Lund, Mrs. Serena Risdal and John Hellesland from Thor; Mrs. Elias Ellingson and Ole Olson from Norway; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Olson and Miss Lily Hage from Newhall; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton and Milton Olson from Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Severin Christianson from Hubbard; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sandve from Cedar Rapids; John L. Johnson from Cedar Rapids, besides the immediate family of the deceased.
