Obituary

Harry Lee Gossett was born September 1, 1892, and died March 7, 1915, being at the time of his death, 22 years, 6 months and 6 days old.

He was born and lived on his grandfather Gossett's homestead near Charleston, Illinois, coming to Iowa with his parents when 8 years old. At the time of death he was living with his parents and brother at their home near Kelley. Harry, although never in rugged health, had been active in school work until he was 17 years old, when poor health compelled him to leave his work. He was a Junior in the Story City high school. After leaving school, he helped his father with the farm work and had continued this until he was called Home.

Harry was stricken with pneumonia four weeks ago and during that time he was such a patient sufferer, ever striving to throw off that dreaded disease. But it was not in our power to keep our loved one with us, for God came at 1:30 P. M. Sunday and took his dear tired soul Home to rest.

It was hard to part with him but loving hands had done all that could be done and when he was called, he went happy, peaceful and secure in the hands of his Saviour.

Harry had neve united with any church, but his daily walk in life was all the worldly profession he needed. Always a kind loving and affectionate son and brother, and numbered his numerous friends by his acquaintances.

All the members of his family were at his bedside at the time of his death leaving a loving father and mother, one brother Roscoe, who is at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Lee Sparks of Gilbert and Mrs. J. L. Gossard of Kasson, Minn., besides relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was held from the home Wednesday 11 A. M. and at 12:30 P. M. The funeral party left on a special car for Ames where the burial took place.

Revs. Polson of Boone and Wendel of Story City conducted the services, taking Psalm 103 for scripture reading and Psalm chapter 37:37 for the text.

The music was rendered by the Napier choir, the songs were: "Haven of Rest," "Some Day" and "Nearer my God to Thee."

The pall-bearers were intimate friends and schoolmates of Harry, namely: Guy Soderstrom, Frank Kingsbury, Raymond Judge, William Maakestad, Arthur and Albert Frandson.
