Aged Acquaintance Called by Death
The following extract was taken from the Rushville, (Neb.) Standard and brings the news to friends and relatives of this place the death of a former acquaintance in the community. Mrs. M. K. Michaelson was formerly Miss Malinda Rasmusson, sister of Mr. J. R. Grindem, Andrew and John Rasmusson of this place.
"The spirit of M. K. Michaelson fled to the world beyond on Tuesday, July 31, 1923, at his home on Larabee creek northeast of Rushville, and the funeral services were conducted from the home on Thursday, August 2, 1923, Rev. R. H. Gammon being in charge.
"Michael K. Michaelson was born in Norway June 25, 1842. In 1865 he come to America and was married to Miss Malinda Rasmusson of Roland, Iowa, on the 4th day of September, 1873. In 1886 her moved with his family to Rushville, Neb., where they have since resided. He was 81 years, 1 month and 6 days old, and had all his life been a constant member of the Lutheran church. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and six children, they being Oscar Michaelson, Anna M. Michaelson, Mrs. Jacob L. Johnson, Mrs. Elbert Watson, Mrs. Ernest Mathis, Mrs. Marin Stava. Three children departed this life in infancy and one son, Carl, died at the age of 14 years. One daughter-in-law, Mrs. Oscar Michaelson, formerly Miss Minnie Johnson, youngest daughter of the late P. T. Johnson, and seventeen grandchildren are among the other close relatives who are left to mourn the loss of this father and grandfather. Michael Michaelson was a good citizen. He paid his obligations promptly and lived the life of an honest and upright man, whose memory will long be cherished by his neighbors."
