Only Child of Mr. and Mr. Mandus Teig Meets Death at Minnesota Home
Relatives and friends were shocked a week ago last Monday when the news was received from Mr. And Mrs. Mandus Teig, of near Blue Earth, Minn., that their two year old son, Richard, had met death by drowning that day.
Mrs. Teig had stepped into the garden to get some vegetables and when she turned to look for the little lad he was nowhere in sight. Knowing his adventurous spirit she made a hurried search for him, only to discover that he had in some unexplained manner climbed into a galvanized iron tank used to catch rainwater in and when she reached him life had left his little body.
Mrs. Teig was alone when the accident happened, Mr. Teig being with a threshing crew.
The tank in which the boy was drowned contained about 18 inches of water and was so high that it is a mystery how the lad could get into it.
The remains were brought to Story City the following day and funeral services were conducted from the Grace church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Orth officiating and interment a made at Center cemetery. A large concourse of people was present and the large floral tributes bore testimony to the deep sympathy which this sudden and tragic lass had stirred in the hearts of the friends and relatives of the bereaved parents.
