L. E. Rasmusson Laid To Rest
Lewis Rasmusson, Victim of Cancer, Passed Away Last Saturday. Burial Services Held Yesterday.
Lewis E. Rasmusson, member of one of the pioneer families of this community, passed away last Saturday morning after a prolonged suffering from cancer. Funeral services were held yesterday from Salem church with Rev. J. N. Sandven and Rev. M. O. Sumstad conducting the services. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his two children who have preceded him to the Great Beyond.
Mr. Rasmusson was born on March 31, 1876, and passed away on Saturday, April 21, being 47 years at the time of his death. In the year of 1903 on Mary 28, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Hall and to this union eleven children have been born, of whom two, Myrtle and Fern, have passed away. The nine living children are Lillian, Raymond, Erma, Myrtle, Burdella, Jeffrey, Frances, Grace and Donald. Mr. and Mrs. Rasmusson took a trip to Norway in 1910. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and nine children; also his aged father, Rasmus Rasmusson of this place, two brothers, Rasmus R. of Marshalltown and Bernard A. of this place, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Rierson of Kandiyohi, Minn., and Mrs. Rachel Danielson of near Nevada. A brother, George, died in 1919, and his mother passed away on January 10, 1923.
Realized his serious condition he went to Rochester, Minn., in January and went through the Mayo clinic but upon being told that nothing could be done for him he returned home to await the end. L. E. Rasmusson was a man of many friends and his death will be a distinct loss to all who knew him. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the community.
