MRS. DAN RASMUSSEN DIED IN MINNESOTA

Former Story City Woman Victim of Sudden Heart Attack

Mrs. Daniel Rasmussen (nee Virginia Wier) died at her home near Preston, Minn., Monday, Nov. 12. This is the sad news that came to relative and friends here last week.

In the Preston Times we read:
Preston people were surprised and grieved when word spread Monday evening that Mrs. Daniel Rasmussen had been called home. It was about five o'clock when she and her husband were walking to the house that he turned just in time to see her pitch forward, dead of a sudden heart attack. Though suffering from heart trouble for many years she had attended to her duties about the home and during the past summer had been unusually well.

Virginia Wier was born at Story City, Iowa, Sept. 23, 1867, where she grew to womanhood and here at the age of twenty-six she was united in marriage with Daniel Rasmussen. Following her marriage they went to Ledyard, Iowa, where they remained for fourteen years when they moved to Amherst, Minn. Here they farmed for a like number of years when they came to Preston which has since been their home.

To them were born eight children, four boys and four girls, one dying in infancy. The surviving are Grace of Spring Valley, Mrs. Nora Knight of Mabel, Mrs. Martha Turck, Preston, Robert and Joseph on the old farm in Amherst, Mrs. Della Joseph, Minneapolis and Kenneth at home. There are also five grandchildren. Of her own family she was the last.

To the sorrowing husband and children sincere sympathy is extended, to the former in the loss of an untiring and helpful partner, to the latter in the taking of a kind and considerate Christian mother.
