Obituary of Chas. B. Sheffield
Charles Blaisdell Sheffield, son of Joseph and Jane Sheffield, was born on a farm south of Story City, Iowa, in February, 1867, and passed away in death in Story City, Iowa, Monday at about 9:00 a.m., June 20, 1927. Aged 60 years and 4 months.
In the public school building located on his father's farm, he attended school, and obtained a common school education; and it was on this farm where with other members of the family he shared the joys of the family circle, and grew to manhood. Later in life he engaged in farming at various intervals. Being a lover of trees, shrubbery and plants, he spent much of his time in the nursery business; and the planting of trees and shrubbery in groves, lawns and private and public buildings.
Mr. Sheffield lived an unassuming, quiet life. Not having married he lived in other homes in or near Story city and for the past years shared the blessings of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wier*.
For some months he realized that he was not in his usual health, and about four weeks ago it was discovered that he was suffering from an incurable disease which so soon caused his death. Both his family and his many friends were surprised at the rapid progress the disease from which he was suffering made.
Three brothers preceded him to the spirit world. The deceased leaves to mourn their loss in his departure: one brother, Milt, of Story City; and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Ferguson and Mrs. Harriet Pagels, both of Michigan City, Ind., and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
May God give to all comfort and counsel.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mrs. Charles Wier was Eliza Lois Ballard Wier. She and Charles B. Sheffield were first cousins once removed.
