PIONEER WOMAN ENTERS INTO REST
Mrs. Thor Omvig Passed to Her Reward Friday Night
Mrs. Thor Omvig, one of the pioneer community, died at her home here last Friday night after an illness of ten days. She was 82 years old.
Funeral services were held in the Immanuel church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Heimarck officiating.
Alice Mason was born in Kvindherrad, Norway, March 25, 1845. She came to this country with her parents at the age of 16 years.
On July 5th, 1866, she was married to Thor J. Omvig. They lived in Benton county until 1872, when they moved to Hamilton county, west of Randall, where they lived on a farm until 1910, when they moved to Story City.
She was the mother of 13 children, one having died in infancy, and Anna passed away June 21, 1923. Those living are John of Hardy, Martha Malmanger of Ames, Inger Stout of Jewell, Ellen Malmanger of Elmore, Minn., Emil of Wells, Minn., Lars of Stanhope, Louisa Stout of west of Story City, Bertha Sylvester, Edward, Tom and Martin, all of Story City.
Mr. and Mrs. Omvig lived together 56 years, Mr. Omvig passing away April 15, 1927. All of the children were home during her last illness, although Emil was not able to come home for the funeral.
