OBITUARY OF O. H. JACOBSON

Ole H. Jacobson was born at Haugland, Os prestegjeld, Norway, Nov. 29, 1859, and died at his home in Story City April 6, 1925, at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 7 days.

He came to America with his parents in 1876. His parents, who were Ole and Jertro Jacobson, settled on a farm near Gilbert.

March 1, 1883, he was married to Anne Jacobson and they settled on the farm two miles northeast of Gilbert, where they lived until they moved to Story City in 1916. He is survived by his widow and seven children. Two children preceded him to the better land. The surviving children are: Ole of Gilbert, Hans of Hayward, Wis., Gerhard of Story City, and Clara, Eva, Arthur and Viola of Des Moines. Seven grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services were held in the Immanuel church April 9, Rev. Heimarck officiating, and the remains were interred at the South St. Petri cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. L. O. Tegland, L. A. Dale, Peter Orning, C. J. Ristvedt, Amos Fossell and Ole L. Olson.

Mr. Jacobson was known as a conscientious and true man in every sense of the word. He had a number of positions of trust, having been trustee of the South St. Petri church for many years, also director of the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association. After moving to Story City he held the position of town assessor. His sudden death was the cause of much sorrow to all who knew him and the influence of his life is but augmented by his passing.
