Obituary of Mrs. Christian Olson
Dorthea Larsdatter was born in Valders, Norway, November 2, 1842.
On May 8th, 1870, she was united in marriage to Christian Olson. Shortly after their marriage they immigrated to America and came to Story City.
To their union seven children were born, of which four have preceded her to the last resting place. Three died in infancy and one, Mrs. Sophie Holm, died at the age of twenty. The three living to mourn the loss of a Christian, loving and devoted mother are Mrs. Mary Heggen of Ashland, Wis., Mrs. Laura Nelson of Eureka, Kan., and Oscar of Kenmare, N. D.
On Oct. 1st, 1918, her husband Christian Olson was called by his maker at the age of seventy-five years.
The deceased has lived in Story county fifty-four years and most of this time in Story City.
The last fourteen months she has made her home at the Old People's Home, where she felt that she received the best of care both bodily and spiritually after her health had failed her so she was unable to care for her self in her own home.
Her prayers to come home to her Lord and Redeemer were answered when on Sunday, May 11, she slept quietly away. She was at the time of her death 81 years, 6 months and 9 days old.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 15, with a large concourse of old time friends present to pay their last respects to a good friend and neighbor. The pall bearers were: Ben Holm, M. J. Jorgenson, Adolph Molstre, John Heggen, E. P. Anderson and Sam Grotness.
