Obituaries

MRS. M. M. TEIGLAND

Mrs. M. M. Teigland was born in Kvinherred, Norway, on March 4th, 1860. Her parents were Soren H. Skorpen and Katrine Hanson Haugland. When two years of age she came with her parents to Haugesund; at this place she received her secular and religious instruction in the public schools and here also she grew up to womanhood. On October 4th, 1874, she was confirmed by the Reverend Jesperson.

On the 29th of July, 1882, she was united in marriage with Martin M. Teigland. To this union eleven children were born, one of which died in infancy. Besides her husband she leaves ten children to mourn her loss: Mrs. P. J. Okland, Rake; Mrs. James Quam and Martin Teigland, Elmore, Minn.; Lucas of Dennison, Minn.; Mrs. J. N. Okland, Jewell; Mrs. John Borwick, Roland; Mrs. H. Bobb, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Elmer Anenson, Roland; Sorem and George of Randall. Also twenty-eight grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Simmons, Clinton, Wash.; Mrs. O. L. Peterson and Mrs. J .C. Peterson, both of Stanwood, Wash.

On the 23rd of June, 1883, Mr. and Mrs. Teigland emigrated from Norway and on the 12th of July of the same year they arrived at Story City. In 1889 they settled on a farm two miles west of Randall where they have since resided. On the 27th of December, while visiting at the Mr. and Mrs. B. Grimsley home Mrs. Teigland suddenly passed away. She had then reached the age of 62 years, 9 months and 23 days.

All the children were present at the funeral and a large concourse of neighbors and friends assembled to pay their last tribute of love and respect for the departed.
