Peter Emberg, 91, Died in Des Moines
Peter Emberg, 91, who has resided on a farm west of Slater for many years, passed away last Friday, Aug. 12 from pneumonia. Mr. Emberg had been in poor health for sometime and was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines last spring on the day following the death of his wife on Mar. 31. About two weeks later he was moved to the Brown and White Nursing home where he was cared for until his death.
Services were held Monday afternoon from the Evangelical Free church in Madrid with Rev. C. E. Nordine in charge. There was a vocal solo by Elmer Holmgren and a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Holmgren of Des Moines.
Pallbearers were P. M. Carlson, Oscar Sandberg, Ernest Johnson, John Erickson, Carl Samuelson and Peter Young.
Mr. Emberg was born June 13, 1858 in Helsingland, Sweden. He came to the United States and arrived in Sheldahl on Sept. 23, 1881. He was united in marriage to Ellen Nelson in Des Moines on Nov. 28, 1883. She preceded him in death passing away Mar. 31, 1949. They moved to their farm in Garden township in March, 1886, where they resided for 63 years. Mr. Emberg became seriously ill Thursday and passed away Friday at 10 a. m.
He is survived by two sons, John of Madison, S. D. and Edwin of Madrid.

Engwall and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Krugenbring of Spicer, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bean, Mrs. Mabel Johnson and Mrs. Katherine Brown, all of Des Moines; Nels Erickson of Omaha; J. A. Batement of Webster City, and John Emberg of Madison, S. D.
