FORMER IOWAN IS LAID TO REST

Mrs. Rasmus Lewis Is Buried From the Church Where She Worshipped Many Years.

The funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Rasmus Lewis, whose death was mentioned in these columns last week, took place Wednesday after-noon from the Palestine church, where she worshipped during her long residence northwest of Cambridge. The services were in charge of Rev. Bueland, assisted by Rev. Duea of Slater. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Deceased reached an age of over seventy-five years, she having been born not far from Stavanger, Norway, March 12, 1844. At the age of twenty she came to America and with other relatives took up her residence at Jefferson Prairie, Wisconsin. That was in 1864. Shortly afterwards she was united in marriage to Mr. Rasmus Lewis and he and his bride soon left for Story county, arriving at Cambridge, where they made their home for forty-six years. In 1919 they moved to Huxley, where they lived four years. Then they moved to Pine River, Minnesota, where they were making their home when death called her. She had been poorly in health since last spring, but it was only recently that her condition became critical and her death on the 16th had been anticipated by the watchers.

Mrs. Lewis left to mourn her departure six children. They are Charley of Howard, South Dakota; John of St. Paul; Dan of Des Moines; Richard of Pine River; Arthur of Huxley; and Mrs. O. B. Orre of Pine river Her husband also survived her, as do two brothers and one sister, Martin and John Brown and Mrs. Erick Sheldahl, all three of Slater and vicinity.
