Leatha Genevieve Ruth Taft, 85, of Nevada, died Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Story County Hospital.

She was born July 28, 1920, in Monroe County, the daughter of Benjamin and Sarah (Courtney) Lundy. On Aug. 20, 1951, she married Harold Taft in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing and the Zearing American Legion Auxiliary Post #116.

Surviving are one daughter, Christina Marie Patterson of Nevada; one sister, Della Cook of Nevada; one grandson, Robbie Patterson of Boone; one sister, Anna Mae Fontanna of Louisville, Ky.; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1983, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing. Burial will be in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing. Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
