Last Rites Held for Mrs. Carrie Lande
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Lande were held at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church on Friday, Mar. 3 at 2 o'clock with the Rev. M. H. Rye officiating. His sermon text was from II Timothy 4:6-8.
Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Den Store Vide Flok." She was accompanied by Mrs. Orland Fjelland.
Pallbearers were: Fred Iverson, John Roe, Jesse Iverson, Henry Iverson, Omer Westre and Howard Smith.
Interment was in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.
Relative attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Roe, Mrs. Bertha Gjerde and Obert Iverson of Hazel, S. D.
Obituary
Carrie Lande, daughter of John and Bertha Iverson was born July 1st, 1872, in Polk County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On Jan. 15, 1903, she was united in marriage to Albert G. Lande. They settled on the farm south of Huxley, where she spent the rest of her life.
Six children were born to this union: (Bertha) Mrs. Ole Houge, (Christine) Mrs. Osmond Sheldahl, Gerhard, Joseph, George and Alfred, all of whom reside in the Huxley community.
On Nov. 30, 1955, she suffered a stroke, which left her helpless the rest of her life. During her long lingering illness, she was cared for by her family at home and passed away Feb. 28, at the age of 88 years and 8 months.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948, on son, Joseph, in 1957, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include the five children, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lande was an active member in the Fjeldberg Church and Ladies Aid as long as health permitted.
