Services Held For Mrs. Susie Alleman

Alleman and community was shocked and greatly saddened when news came of the death, Friday night, of Mrs. Susie Alleman. She was dearly beloved by all who knew her, old and young, for her generous deeds of love and kindly considerations of others.

Funeral services were held in the home of her son, Calvin, at 1:30 p. m. Monday, followed by services in the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Alleman at 2 p. m., with her pastor, Rev. F. E. Stucki, in charge. His text was taken from Luke 22:46.

Mrs. L. E. Fausch presided at the organ and accompanied Robert Fausch, who sang "Immortal" and "The Lord's Prayer." The Hitz Quartette sang "Abide With Me" and was accompanied by Mrs. Earl Mosebach at the piano.

There were many gifts to the missions in memory of Mrs. Alleman and the floral tributes were beautiful. Flower arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Lloyd Fleming, Mrs. V. L. Gfeller and Mrs. John Hadley.

Pallbearers were the grandsons of the deceased--Darrell, Gene and Marvin Hildreth and Eldon Alleman.

Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery.

Many from a distance were in attendance at the funeral services.

Lunch was served by friends in the church parlors following the services.

Obituary.

Mrs. Susie Alleman, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Marmet, was born at Glenmont, Ohio Feb. 24, 1877, and passed to her eternal reward at the home of her daughter in Ankeny on Friday, Mar. 12, 1954, thus attaining the age of 77 years and 18 days.

She grew to womanhood in the parental home in Glenmont, where she received her schooling and her church training in the Reformed Church.

On Jan. 19, 1898, she was united in holy wedlock to George G. Alleman of the community and they settled on the home farm a short distance west of Alleman.

Four children born to this union are: Calvin C. Alleman of Slater; Harold R. Alleman of Anita, Ia.; (Clara) Mrs. Wilbur Hildreth of Ankeny, and Carl W. Alleman of Santa Fe, N. Mex. In addition they reared her brother's three small orphaned children: Edna, Lydia and Alvin Marmet, as their own, until they, too, married and moved away. All were in attendance at the last rites.

Mr. Alleman's death occurred Apr. 2, 1917, and she continued the operation of the farm with the help of her eldest son, Calvin, until his marriage, when she retired to her little home in Alleman in 1931, just across the street from her church, where, since her marriage she has been a faithful worshipper, having transferred her membership from Glenmont, Ohio, and henceforth maintained a most exemplary interest and devotion in this, her church, unto the very end.

"Aunt Tudi" as she came to be affectionately known among all her acquaintances, will be greatly missed. She gave of her services rejoicingly and unstintingly where ever it was needed and had a warm hand-clasp and cheerful smile for all.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, basing her standards on Christian principles always. This sustaining power of her Lord and Master carried her through the infirmities of her advancing years with patience a fortitude, and se answered the summons quietly Friday night at 10:10 o'clock.

Survivors besides the children mentioned, are two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Manchester, Glenmont, Ohio, and Mrs. Alice Drouhard of Cambridge, Ohio; seven grandchildren, other more distant relatives and a host of friends.

Thus another well beloved resident has passed from our midst. Blessed be her memory.
