Nina Lorraine Johnson
Nov. 15, 1919, to July 13, 2001Nina Lorraine Johnson, 81, of Nevada died Friday, July 13, at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born Nov. 15, 1919, at Homestead, Mont. to Isaac and Betsy (Bolstad) Nygaard. She was the youngest of nine children. Her parents died when she was a small girl and she was raised by her oldest sister and family in Medicine Lake, Mont. She graduated from Medicine Lake High School in 1938. She came to Iowa that summer and worked in Latimer and Coulter. She married Roy Arthur Johnson on Aug. 23, 1940, in Coulter. She and Roy moved to Nevada in 1956, where they owned and operated Johnson's True Value Hardware until they retired in 1985. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Roy, of Nevada; a son, John (and Connie) Johnson of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Garden Cemetery, north of Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lorraine Johnson Memorial Fund. Bacon Funeral Home, Nevada, handled arrangements.
