DEATH OF ANNA RICHARDS'N

Remains of Former Iowa Woman, Mrs. Anna Richardson, Brought Back For Burial.

Mrs. Anna Richardson, one of Story county's early pioneer women, died at the home of a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Lande, at Canton, South Dakota, October 22nd, and the remains were brought back to Iowa for burial, funeral taking place from Fieldberg church at Huxley on Wednesday of last week. Rev. Lunde was in charge of the services ad the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the cemetery of the church. Mr. Richardson passed away thirty-five years ago. There were originally nine children in the family. Of these only three are living. They are sons Randall and Anfin of Sioux county and a daughter, Carrie, now Mrs. G. W. Lande, of Canton, South Dakota, with whom she had been making her home for over twenty years.

Deceased was the wife of Mr. John Richardson, remembered by many yet as "Sniker John," he being one of the first, carpenter among the early settlers. He had in charge the building of the Fieldberg as well as the first Palestine church. He also assisted in the building of many other churches among the pioneers in other settlements and his services were in great demand. They made their home southeast of Huxley and later in the timber north of Huxley. As the family scattered she took up her residence with the children. Old friends will recall her as a wonderfully kind and helpful woman.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Anna Shursen, was born at Valen, Fjeldberg prestegjeld, Norway, June 18, 1832. With her future husband she came to America in 1857, landing at Morris, Illinois. There their marriage took place the same year. A few years later, in 1865, they moved to Iowa, taking up their residence on the prairie on what is now southeast of Huxley, where they lived till they took up their residence in the edge of Ballard Grove, north of Huxley.
