Funeral Services Held for Clark Barteau, 80
Funeral services for Clark Barteau, 80, were held Friday afternoon, Mar. 18, in the United Methodist Church in Slater. Rev. John Ness was the clergyman.
Mrs. Charles Hoeven was the organist. She accompanied Mrs. Herb Belz and Barbara Belz who sang two duets, "Softly and Tenderly" and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Shelby Chader, Ross Daggett, Clark Nervig, Charles Raker, Phil Rood and King Schaudt.
Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Obituary
Clark Barteau was born Feb 2, 1897 in Newport, Minn., the son of Frederick and Minnie Barteau.
He passed away Mar. 15, 1977, in Veterans Hospital in Des Moines after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Barteau married Mildred Parsons June 20, 1920. Mr. Barteau was a retired lumber dealer. He lived in Minnesota and North Dakota before moving to Iowa where he spent most of his life. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion Post in Hazelton. Mr. and Mrs. Barteau moved to Slater three years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, two sons, Richard of Des Moines and Charles of Old Lyme, Conn.; one daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Janice) James of Ames; a sister May David of Santa Clara, Calif.; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.
