Mrs. Bertha Aarthun Dies of Heart Attack
Mrs. Bertha Aarthun, 72, succumbed to a heart attack Friday morning while shoveling snow at her home in the east part of town.
Services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Riis Funeral Home.
Pastor Leo O. Bjorlie of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church was in charge of the services and chose his text from Psalm 48:9-14.
Mrs. Lester Becker soloist, sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and "I'm But a Stranger Here.' She was accompanied by Mrs. Oliver Newman, pianist.
Pallbearers were Roger Engen, Oley Houge, Andrew Estrem, Andrew Sheldahl, H. J. Carlson and L. P. Earp.
Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery beside her husband.
Obituary
Bertha Aarthun, daughter of Rasmus and Brita Sandwick, was born Oct. 5, 1886 at Skonevick, Norway.
She passed away Mar. 7 at the age of 72 years and five months.
She was married to Elias Aarthun on Mar. 9, 1926 at Des Moines. They moved to Slater in June 1953.
Her husband passed away on Mar. 9, 1956.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. R. P. Thymian of Seattle, Wash. and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Aarthun was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater.
