SEVERT WALKER
Mr. Severt Walker, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oley Walker, was born April 14, 1899, at Slater, Iowa, and died at the Lutheran hospital at Des Moines, Iowa, September 6, 1923. The earlier years of his life were spent in Slater and vicinity. He attended school at Slater, being a graduate of the class of 1917. The two following years he continued his education at the Iowa State College. The next year he was employed in the government service at McGregor, Iowa. In the fall of 1920 he entered the Iowa State University as a students' army training corps at Ames, during our late world war, he contracted the influenza and inflammatory rheumatism. This developed into a valvular disease of the heart, which caused his death. He leaves to mourn his three sisters, Marie and Sadie Walker and Ruth Fatland. Also three stepsisters, a stepfather and one foster sister, besides a host of relatives and friends. His father died in 1904; his mother in 1922.
