Funeral Services at Cambridge Attended By a Large Audience--Burial at Palestine.

The funeral services of Severt J. Severson were held at the Lutheran church in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. P. Buland. The floral offerings were very beautiful. Milfred Severson of Ames sang "In My Father's House Are Many Mansions." Mrs. Lars Kloster of Des Moines sang "Wings of Snow" and several numbers were sung by the choir. The pall bearers were Henry Ersland, Jacob Ersland, A. M. Mason, Albert Hill, Fred Larson and S. K. Twedt.

Severt J. Severson was born near Leland, Illinois, March 15, 1855. On May 17th, the same year, his parents moved to Iowa, they being members of the original colony that left Lisbon on that memorable day. They took up their residence in Union township, where his father had previously acquired five quarters of government land. Young Severt was educated in the public schools of the community. Being ambitious and industrious he did well and later became the owner of the home farm. He prospered and bought more land, part of it being in North Dakota. He contributed much to the welfare of his community, whose interests he always had a heart and did much to promote the work of the church as well as the schools.

His marriage to Miss Arbella Sheldahl took place on November 2, 1976 [sic]. She was a woman of the highest type, a helpmate of whom he was always proud. They lived happily together and prospered. To them were born seven children, Six are now living--Edwin of Stanley, North Dakota, Oscar and Mrs. Bertha Eklund of Alsen, North Dakota, Elmer of Weaver, North Dakota. Arthur of Hampton, North Dakota, and Mrs. Bessie Skola of Slater.
