THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Monday, September 26, 2005.
James Ross Hambly, 62, of Nevada, died Friday, Sept. 23, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.
Jim was born on July 4, 1943, in Ames to Glen Carlton "Jiggs" and Marjorie (Bushman) Hambly. He was a 1961 graduate of New Providence and attended Ellsworth Junior College. He retired as a co-owner of Ames Computer Form Inc., on Dec. 30, 2004.
He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and past member of the Nevada School Board and Nevada Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, traveling, riding his Harley and driving his Corvette.He is survived by his fiancée, Jackie Becker, of Nevada; two sons, Jason Hambly (Kim) and granddaughter Megan of Shellsburg and Shannon Hambly (Tawnya) and grandchildren Drew and Sidney of Long Grove; one daughter, Shelly (John) Whaley and grandchildren, Shane (Jill) Webster, Starlene (Wyatt) Randolph, Jody Jimanez, and John Whaley; his mother, Marjorie Hambly, of Nevada; one brother, Steven (Connie) Hambly, of Nevada; three great grandchildren; and Jackie's children and Jim's close friends, Brad and Tonya Becker and baby Parker, of Ames, Mike and Jill Becker,of Ames, and Andrew Becker at home.
He was preceded in death by his father, G. Carlton "Jiggs" Hambly on June 29, 2001.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established in Jim's name for the Nevada Fire Department.
Chet Ryan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
