Services Held for Mrs. Anna Wang
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Wang were held Thursday at the Home for the Aged in Madrid with Rev. Johnson in charge, and at the Sheldahl Methodist Church with Pastor Hoyle officiating. Both used John 14 as their text.
Ruby Boda sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" at the Home, and Lester Moore sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" at the Church. He was accompanied by Mrs. Orrie Stauffer.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Wang's grandsons--Howard Wilbur, Harold, Lester and Albert Sheldahl and Charles Schulz.
Burial was in the Sheldahl Cemetery.
Obituary.
Anna Wang passed quietly away at the Lutheran Home for the Aged at Madrid Monday evening Feb. 27, having reached the age of 91 years, 9 months and 19 days.
Thora Anna Larson was born in Helsingland, Sweden, May 8, 1864. She was baptized in infancy and received the rites of confirmation the first day of June, 1879.
In 1888, at the age of 24, Anna came to America, living first in Kansas, but soon came to Iowa. On Dec, 17, 1890, she was united in marriage to Jonas Wang in Des Moines.
To this union one daughter, Christena, was born. Surviving besides the daughter, are seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two sisters, both of whom live in Sweden.
Anna was preceded in death by her father and mother, two sisters and two brothers, all in Sweden; her husband and one grandson.
Having lived most of her life in Sheldahl, Grandma Wang leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing. She will long be remembered by all who knew her.
