From Ames Intelligencer, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 10th, 1904.

Lars R. Larson was born in Tungesvik, Norway Feb. 6, 1830, died at his home in Story City, Nov. 4, 1904. He came to this country, diect to Illinois in 1845 and in 1856 moved to Story City where he has lived ever since. He was married in Story City to Miss Randa Larson December 14, 1859. Twelve children were born to this union, nine sons and three daughters. Six sons and three daughters having gone before him. An aged and devoted wife and three sons, Edward, Ephriem and Benjamin are left to mourn the loss of a beloved father and husband. Mr. Larson was one of the earliest Norwegian settlers of Story county and he had much to do with the early growth of the town. He owned most of the land at one time on which Story City now stands. He was one of Story City's first postmasters, and for about twenty years filled this position in a most capable manner. He kind and genial manner won him the friendship of all who knew him, and the announcement of his death brought sorrow to many homes. His life has been a long and useful one and his good influences will long live after him. The funeral services were held in the St. Petri church at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday and during that hour all the business places in town were closed. The services were conducted by Rev. Vangsnes. A large concourse of friends were present to pay their parting respects to the honored dead. Interment took place in the Story City cemetery. -Story City Herald
