JONES, ANNE (1853-1894)

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 19, 1894, page 1.
“OBITUARY – Miss Anne Jones was born in Patterson, Hardin county, Ohio, 1853. She was the youngest of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Jones of Boone, and died at the home of her brother, John Jones, six miles south of Nevada April 8, 1894. Her parents moved to Iowa in 1853, thus becoming the early pioneers of Boone county, where she spent the most of her life. She had been a great sufferer with rheumatism for twenty years, but died after four days severe illness of peritonitis. She and her friends were so accustomed to her suffering that no one realized that death was so near. A physician was called, and everything possible done to relieve her pain, but the hand of death could not be stayed. She leaves two sisters, two brothers and an aged father to mourn her loss, her mother and a sister having gone on before. (This sister being the mother of the Birge family, who with her husband and four children were killed in the Pomeroy cyclone.) Her remains were taken to Boone on Monday, where appropriate funeral services were conducted in the M. E. Church after which she was laid to rest in the family lot beside her mother. The bereaved friends have the sympathy of the entire community. A Friend.”
