“GEORGE BEEM DIES. George A. Beem, age 74 years, passed away Saturday at the Story County hospital in Nevada, after an illness of thirty days. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian church with Rev. Ira E. Carney in charge. Burial was in Elkhart cemetery. George Allan Beem was born September 13, 1877 in Jackson County, Indiana, to Joseph and Katherine Beem, and passed away August 23, 1952 at the Story County hospital in Nevada, Iowa, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 74 years 11 months and 10 days. He moved to Iowa in 1903 at the age of 25 years and was united in marriage to Maude Holsinger of Elkhart. To this union was born four children, Mrs. Wayne (Zelda) Harsha of Baxter, Mrs. Russell (Viola) Warner of Colfax, Joe Beem of Mingo, and Mrs. Dorothy Bell of Maxwell. Except for a few years spent in or near Des Moines Mr. Beem has spent most of his married life as a farmer in the Collins, Farrar, and Maxwell communities. For the past five years he was employed at the Maxwell Brick 1 Block Co., working up to just three days before his illness. He is the last of a family of sex children. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Maude, four children, seven grandchildren and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. “Your footsteps are gone forever And your voice no more we’ll hear But your memory will linger with us And in our thoughts you’ll always be near.” Services were from the Maxwell Christian Church, Tuesday, August 26, 1952 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ira E. Carney officiating. Music was by Kathleen Minear and Betty Porter. Gladys Wood and Golden Coughenour had charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Vern Holsinger, Clarence Holsinger, Harold Hall, Raymond Alleman, Earnest Herman and Howard Hubby. Burial was in Elkhart cemetery.” “CARD OF THANKS. We wish to express our sincere thanks to our friends, neighbors and relatives, who helped and gave so unselfishly of their time and sympathy during the illness and bereavement of our husband and father. The beautiful floral tributes and kind deeds shall always be remembered, and may God bless each and every one of you.
